Chocolate Day!
... that today is Chocolate Day? Chocolate was introduced into Europe in 1550. The drink was a high-status beverage, as the cacao seeds were a very expensive import. But today, we can all indulge in our favorite food! Let's not miss an excuse.
This puts an interesting spin on the speculation of whether Shakespeare drank hot chocolate. I always assumed he couldn't have because it wasn't available. And I assumed he would have if it was. Now, who knows? And who knows when sugar was added?
